How to Fix Empty Google Reader Feeds in Firefox

If your Google Reader is not showing any entries in Firefox, where the left hand pane and the top is visible but the entries pane is blank or empty, here’s how to fix it. (I’ve noticed some folk with this problem, and haven’t anyone post the solution):

Go into Tools/Options:

Click on the Clear Now… button:

Select the check boxes Cache and Authenticated Sessions (and clear the others):

Click on the Clear Private Data Now button.

Close and reopen all your Firefox windows.

You should now be able to see the contents of your Google Reader feeds.

Nope, that didn’t work for me. However, Google Reader is only showing as empty on the new Firefox beta. Kicking off my old Firefox 2 lets me see things fine. Oddly, things were working fine in Firefox 3 until just recently, but now it’s blank in even the older beta versions.

No sooner do I post, than I notice there’s a bug that explains it: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=426193 The problem is with zooming in the beta. Hitting Ctrl-0 to reset the zoom level lets everything show up…

  3. Yeah, it’s not working for me either anymore. Will try to find out more from FF

I just wanted to say thanks – your advice solved my problem, for the time being anyway. I had cleared the cache but not the authenticated sessions.

    So, thanks a bunch!
